{"id":721,"date":"2019-02-12T10:37:58","date_gmt":"2019-02-12T10:37:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ibex.tech\/windows-iot\/?p=721"},"modified":"2019-02-12T10:37:58","modified_gmt":"2019-02-12T10:37:58","slug":"issues-getting-project-to-run","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ibex.tech\/csharp\/uwp-programming-in-c\/projects-general\/issues-getting-project-to-run","title":{"rendered":"Issues &#8211; Getting Project To Run"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Setting target version (to match the OS version running on your device)<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Right click project &gt; Properties &gt; Application &gt; Targeting<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">If you need a new version<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Visual Studio &gt; Menu &gt; Tools &gt; Extensions &amp; Updates &gt; Online<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Visual Studio Can&#8217;t find device<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p> Right click project &gt; Properties &gt;  Debug &gt; Start options &gt; Remote machine &gt; Find &#8211; your device is not found<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Remote debugger running?<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Check the Visual Studio Remote Debugger is be running on your device.&nbsp; Use&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/docs.microsoft.com\/en-us\/windows\/iot-core\/downloads\" target=\"_blank\">Windows 10 IoT Core Dashboard<\/a>&nbsp;&gt; Open device portal or open a Web Browser on your PC and point it to http:\/\/&lt;device name\/IP address&gt;:8080<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Username: Administrator<\/li><li>Passsword: the password you set when you created the device<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Debug &gt;&nbsp;Debug settings &gt; click the Start button under Start Visual Studio Remote Debugger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now restart the device and visual studio (just to be sure)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">In debug mode?<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Select &#8220;Debug&#8221; from the visual studio drop down and rebuild.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Will using the devices IP address work?<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Select &#8220;Remote Device&#8221; and instead of find try just entering the devices IP address in the &#8220;Remote machine&#8221; box &#8211; will it run now?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Firewall blocking?<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Is there any chance Windows firewall is blocking the connection?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Is Windows set to &#8220;Developer Mode&#8221;?<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are writing software with Visual Studio on a computer for first time, you will need to enable Developer Mode on both the development PC, and on any devices you&#8217;ll use to test your code.
