Removing SQL Server

Control Panel > Add Remove Programs
Remove the SQL Server 2008 (not the other SQL Server 2008…. programs first)

Updating SQL Server / Checking For Updates

Start > Programs > Configuration Tools > SQL Server Instalation Centre
