Specific category URL

Default URL

https://yourdomain.com/category/your-category-name

Custom URL

You can alter it in WP Admin > Settings > Permalinks > Category base

Removing the default “/category/” section altogether

Change the “Category base” setting to a period (.). This will remove the default category base, resulting in cleaner URLs like this:

https://yourdomain.com/your-category-name

If your “Category base” has “blog/” forced in front of it

We found this on some of our old sites. Changing Permalink structure to Plain and then back again to our custom structure fixed it (removed the fixed “blog/” element)

USEFUL?
We benefit hugely from resources on the web so we decided we should try and give back some of our knowledge and resources to the community by opening up many of our company’s internal notes and libraries through resources like this. We hope you find it helpful.
