Potentiometer and resistor

A pot and a resistor can be used as a really simple way of simulating a load cell. Take the following example:

2.5v excitation voltage
2mV per volt at full range.
2.5v excitation x 2mV per volt means it will output 5mV at full load.

A typical 4 pin loadcell connection:
1 – 0V
2 – \ Differential voltage sense
3 – /
4 – 2.5V

Using a 1K test pot:
1 – \ Linked and connect to pot CCW
2 – /
3 – Pot wiper
4 – To 510K resistor then to pot CW

1K pot with a series 510K resistor to 2.5V gives 0 to 4.9mV output on the pot wiper.
